Sleep is just time spent wasting time

I saw AVATAAAAAAAAAAAAAR in 3D yesterday evening.
And I'll stop right there, because I know you've probably heard about it a gazillion times/seen it already.

Hold on, can I just say,
Avatar was bloody awesome, but I thought it was going to be so much better
Thanks to all the people that said things along the lines of
"Best movie I've seen all year",
"I'm going to buy ten DVDs",
"Why the hell didn't you go on the first day?!"
Dude, seriously, I was going to, but the weather was too good that day (raining).

I brought my little brother along with me to see Avatar.
Not only did he have to pee in the middle of the movie (I had to accompany him to the male restroom door),
But he kept his 3D glasses on for basically the rest of the night and kept telling me,
"Everything is 3D when I put the glasses on! Look! You're 3D!"
Well, why don't you give yourself a pat on the back...

Maybe I'll leave and laugh about it someday, but not today

Click on images for larger view.

Along with starting my job at Hilton recently, I've taken on continuous shopping these holidays.
I don't know if all girls out there agree with me, but to go shopping doesn't mean you always have to come home with something.
After days and days (not in a row of course...) of compulsive shopping and bargain hunting , I picked up a couple of items:

Rubi - $19.95
Thank you, Dennis :)
Rubi is selling flats with the exact pattern but I've always been a big fan of sneakers - and these were close enough (I suppose not all of my childhood tomboy-erism rubbed off).
I reckon if Rubi, or any store for that matter, made a continuous collection of shoes like this but with a series of floral patterns, I'd buy 'em all.

The Book Boys - $10 (rrp: $22)
Published by the House and Garden magazine,
Hand crafted is not only beautiful with pretty pictures and what-not,
There are DIY projects in this book that I will take on.

Temt - $14.95
...And lace gets the best of me again.

Kmart - $19
I was in desperate need of a white dress for a certain occasion.
Isn't it so ironic when you find something when you don't need it while you don't find something when you do need it?
When I was younger, I always thought God was testing my patience, so I played along with him and I would eventually find it (psht, yeah, a week later...).
Now, I still think it's the same, but also a bloody pain in the ass.

Kmart - $10
DIY lace detail
For those who only buy branded clothing, excuse the my brandless consumption of clothing and items.
Fyi, if anyone is planning on this simple DIY project (I thought the shoes looked horridly naked without any sort of detail), do not glue unless you have awesome glue because it'll just fall off after a couple of hours of wear.
Solution: Hand sew.

Globalize - $5
Now I've just got to find something to wear it with - Perfect excuse for me to shop more.

Though, after all that shopping, seems like all I bought was a couple of things with a white a floral theme behind it.

Hoping everyone is more than a-okay ;)

One hour away

Christmas Eve marks the date when my grandma passed away,
Though today marks the third year.
I miss her more and more every day.

This post will include no pretty pictures as I'm not at home and actually in the middle of a family party!
But I know I won't be back in time for Christmas on Blogger and so here is my Christmas message to you,

Merry Christmas all!
God bless you and your family - 'cause I'm a Catholic and awesome - during this festive season.
I hope that you've been good this year and aren't disappointed with anything Santa comes up with.
(Don't forget to leave milk and cookies out for Santa and some carrots for the reindeer.)
In a week, 2010 comes into our lives and our lives either start over and continue, it's up to you.
Better start brainstorming for a half-reasonable new year resolution/s.

That's all, I'm sorry. I've got to go.

Again, Merry Christmas!
I'll post something more exciting soon.

I'll give so much more than I get

There's too much pain, too much hurt, too much suffering in this world.
Too much of everything that every single one of us must overcome and conquer.

You never can get used to losing a loved one.
Is there a detailed enough guide which tells us step by step how to get by and plan something that is stating the end or one's life?

It was held in the very same place where they had my uncle's funeral. Deja vu.
Walking in, I knew what was coming for me.
I sat in the back row with the small crowd of some of the closest people to the baby's parents looking straight up ahead.

There, kneeling at the tiny coffin sobbing, was her mother.
Sitting to the left, with his two other children, was her father.
The loss of an unborn child, sister, grandchild, niece, grandniece...

The stats:
I know, miscarriages are a very common occurrence.
Sources vary, but many estimate that approximately one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage - though some estimates are as high as one in three.

I have aunties who have had miscarriages before, sure, but they weren't too far in.
My cousin was already four to five months through it all. She glowed, just like she did for the past two gorgeous kids.

My uncle, who is their father, passed away over two years ago of cancer.
His youngest daughter turned eleven four days ago, middle child is now a photographer and oldest son is the father of Teresa Hoai An.

It was open casket.
She may not have been nine months, but she was beautiful and we all knew it.

If only you could have stayed with us longer.

'Life's tough. You put one foot in front of the other and you go. You move on', they say.
It's never easy...

Rest in peace, darling.

I don't feel that I deserve the sunshine's rays

What happened, Tuyen? What have you been up to?

I checked out MSN Today today (bah!) and they said that Resse Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal (yum yum) have broken up. Awwwwwwwwwww, maaaaaaaaaaan!

I watched roughly four hundred minutes of The Vampire Diaries all yesterday night.
I suppose I've found myself in 'that circle' again. Are fictional vampires really that irresistable.
Like judging a book by it's cover, I thought The Vampire Diaries would be the idea of the Twilight Saga turned into a television series - it'd be stupid.

But The Vampire Diaries tells the story of a relationship somewhat like Edward and Bella's but the best thing is they have REAL vampires.
The ones you stake in the heart, that can't go out into the sunlight because they'll burn - not sparkle, they look très freaky when they get into blood-sucking-mode and there is so much more bloooooood and action which is always good, hey?

To my surprise, the television series is based on a series of books. Hmm.
Now I've just got to sit around and wait for season two which comes out early next year...

I got the job at Hilton Hotel!
Goodness, there's more paper work than a sixteen year old could have ever imagined.
It's a casual weekend position with shifts starting at seven in the morning.
Not only does this mean I will get paid a much more reasonable price than Enjoy Inn, but it means I have the privilige of leaving Enjoy Inn.
It'll be ok.
My first shift is on Boxing Day. Whoo.

December came around much too quickly this year
And now it seems to be going much two times the pace it came at.
I've been crazy with decorating, shopping, card writing, surprises...
I mean, I'm not even done!
More on that in the next Blog because I've got to get back to all that Christmas preparation!
(I promise I won't be too long!)

I hope you're all well!

I don't know what I've done, or if I like what I've begun

A feeling that I believe each and every one of us know too well is waiting.
Patient as you deem yourself to be,
You're still waiting.
Waiting for something.
Waiting for someone.

What are you waiting for?

It’s dark now and I am very tired. I love you, always. Time is nothing.

- Henry DeTamble The Time Traveler's Wife (novel)

The Time Traveler's Wife has been out in cinemas for just over a month and I was beginning to stress because they would stop the screenings for the film very very soon (especially with Christmas approaching).

Luckily, stress and panic turned into un-staying-still-ness.
Dennis felt a little flustered because of my excitement.
Last Saturday at 10:30 in the morning (excuse the time, but like I said, sessions were/are disappearing), Dennis and I met up and as the gentleman he is, he bought the movie tickets (bah...).

Eric Bana, the Australian of the movie - though clearly, he had to put on an American accent - was hot as.
Rachel McAdams was her perfect self.
So when you put 'em both together, you get instant chemistry, though this connection is not as near as close to the relationship between Rachel and Ryan Gosling in The Notebook.

The film was amazing.
Though, I still live and breathe today not knowing a film that is an improvement of its novel.
(What, with all the scenes that have vanished, imaginary sex scenes and rushed time!?)

If you plan on seeing The Time Traveler's Wife on the big screen,
Not only should you put your running shoes on and head to the closest cinemas (check session times first),
But you should, maybe, ask yourself why you want to see it.
Do you want to see a movie about time travel, labeled 'Action',
Or a romance that leans on the concept of time travel as a complication in friendship, relationships and marriage.

No doubt the Twilight Saga was a great read all that time ago when I read it,
But the movies do not live up to the story.
Not denying the fact that Robert Pattinson is gorgeous of course.

I'm an absolute sucker for movies that are based on books.

...Could The Time Traveler's Wife be my 'Movie of the Year'?

What is the best movie you have seen this year?
Which movie did you see that left you utterly, utterly disappointed?

A first time for everything

Thank you so much for the tip, Thuong. It's breathtaking.
Michael Buble is breathtaking.

Life goes on, though, a lot of the time, all you want to do is run.

Despite the fact that you have started to run,
Life on earth continues.
There are few people who notice your absence.

Time doesn't cease to exist.

No one stops just because you've planned for escape,
Not even you stop to think of all the future 'should-a, would-a, could-a''s.

Nothing holds us back but our hearts.
Nothing is holding our hearts back but love.
Love is there, love is there, love is here,
Love is home.
